california judges association
background
When we were first approached by CJA, their website was being managed with FrontPage. The content was very scattered and the resources throughout the site were very disorganized.
challenge
We needed to clean up the format and content of this site and then create a new design and structure that would allow CJA staff to easily maintain all content. We also needed to develop a new members-only and public area on this website, which had historically been available to CJA members only.
our solution
Over two phases of production, we first transitioned the FrontPage system into a new, database-driven content management system, implemented a robust website search and reformatted all of the website content. In the second phase of development, we created an entirely new website design and structure, including a new group of public pages. The new website uses an automatic member registration system designed to smoothly transition website users from the old single username/password into the new system. Now, whenever a user logs in using the old generic username/password, they are taken to a user registration screen where they are gently encouraged to create a profile.
results
The new website for CJA promotes the new, modern approach that this association is taking to managing their members and providing services for them from their website. CJA has already benefited from this site through a clearly demonstrated member focus. Traffic on the website is increasing, members are being encouraged to join and existing members have many more reasons to renew.
